Asta Vrečko has a PhD in art history. She is partly employed as a researcher at the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Arts, and partly as an independent cultural worker. She is an external lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design and an expert associate of the Center for Contemporary Art (SCCA-Ljubljana), and occasionally works as a curator. She is primarily engaged in 20th-century Yugoslavian and Slovenian art, and is particularly dedicated to the history of exhibiting and cultural politics.

In the lecture, she will focus on the history of artist associations in Slovenia in times of social change and their role. She will especially focus on the beginnings of associations of regional societies and the decentralization of arts and culture, when the Škofja Loka Artist Association was formed.
