Artist Talk: Berko

The guest of the second artist talk, at the France Mihelič Gallery, will be the prominent painter, graphic artist and pioneer of the airbrush technique in Slovenia – Berko.

Berko is also the first and most important Slovenian hyperrealist. His work is characterized by the artistic trends of the late 60s and 70s of the 20th century. The artist's constant fascination is scenes from the world of commercials, advertising and various urban environments, and he depicts them in the context of pop art, hyper- and photorealism. Her motif focuses on the modern urban environment, which she depicts in acrylic and oil painting and graphics (with an emphasis on screen printing and laser printing techniques). In recent years, he has been working with digitized details from his older paintings and graphics, which he sensibly places in new art designs with the theme of urban environments.
