From Liberation to Independence

The exhibition From Liberation to Independence presents the 46 years of development of Škofja Loka and its surroundings from 1945 to 1991. It will shed light on the reconstruction of war-damaged buildings and the building of new ones, the development of the economy and industry, we will learn which necessities were in short supply, which products people could buy in shops and which abroad, how they cultivated the land, what children learned in schools and how everyday life went, we will also present the role of the army in Škofja Loka and the time of independence and the creation of a new Slovenian state. We will pay special attention to the development of the artistic pulse of Škofja Loka. Some selected chapters (agriculture and agriculture, popular music, childhood, celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Škofja Loka) from the past of Škofja Loka will also be presented in our permanent collections.
