Jana Jocif is a versatile photographer who is engaged in a host of different professional activities, but is also involved in a wider cultural scene and life, following major public events and unfamiliar peripheral areas of Slovenia. She is an architect by profession, however, she has been working in design and photography for the past ten years. She has been a professional photographer since 2010, participating in various projects throughout Slovenia and lately also elsewhere. From the very beginning, she has been collaborating with Outsider, a magazine and online medium dedicated to the promotion of architectural culture in a broader spatial and societal context.

The photographic exhibition Hidden Herritage: Portraits of Centuries Past, which consists of five series and fifty-two photographs, is dedicated to cultural heritage and its (non-)conservation. All the presented monuments – some of which are included in the Register of the Immovable Cultural Heritage of Slovenia – are examples of architectural heritage from the Škofja Loka area. The captured worlds of abandoned spaces reveal the stories written by centuries-old buildings, houses and homes. The images are intimate portraits of the spaces that used to be inhabited by people, while today they stand desolate, collapsing into themselves and awaiting either ruin or salvation.

The guided tour will be led by the artist and exhibition curator. Welcome!
