Guided Tour of the Škofja Loka Castle Garden

Rendez-vous in the European Gardens 2022

3. 6. 2022 @ 10:00
Free entry

Both the castle garden with its linden tree-lined path and the former convent garden at the foot of the Škofja Loka castle hill have a long and varied history. The Škofja Loka Castle had a garden already in the early modern period, and the plan of both gardens changed drastically during the time the Ursuline Sisters owned it, and between the two world wars. In terms of the idea behind it, the successor of the Ursulines' garden is the enclosed castle garden, which represents one of the established medieval monastery garden types called hortus conclusus.

Join us on a guided walk and learn about the interesting stories, hidden in the Castle garden!

The event is part of the Rendez-vous aux in the European garden, organized by the French Ministry of Culture for the nineteenth year in a row on the first weekend in June. In 2018, it expanded to European gardens and parks, and its purpose is to make the public aware of the diversity and richness of gardens and parks and their cultural significance, while learning about the positive effects on the well-being of visitors to gardens and parks.
