Exhibition opening of Metod Frlic: Bog z vsadkom

The exhibition of the academy-trained sculptor Method Frlic humorously titled God with an Implant will present the artist’s recent works, grouped into different sets of works that were created simultaneously. The first gallery room will feature works from the artist’s politics-themed series, most of which have been produced since 2014, as well as abstract “sculptural paintings”, in which Frlic has been exploring optical effects created simply by reshaping the surface of stone since the early 2000s. The sophisticated treatment of the rock-solid sculptural material, sometimes with the addition of colour accents, also results in sculptures that either depict parts of the human body or give the appearance of tissues of organic origin. These works will be on display in the second gallery room. The title of the exhibition, which indirectly refers to a specific field of surgery, also highlights the idea, among other things, that no one is perfect.

Metod Frlic is this year’s recipient of the Ivan Grohar Award for Important Art Achievements, awarded by the Škofja Loka Artists’ Association annually since 1980.
