Opening of the exhibition by Lela B. Njatin: 73 km from Kočevje
28. 1. 2026 @ 18:00
The exhibition titled “73 km from Kočevje” is based on Slovenia’s most catastrophic post-war industrial accident, which might fatally link the towns of Kočevje and Škofja Loka. The exhibition uses various ways to preserve and highlight the post-accident testimonies of the inhabitants of Kočevje, which were overshadowed by the official explanations of the accident. It features an artist book, a video and objects created on the basis of the artist’s performance, as well as statements given to the artist immediately after the event. In collaboration with other artists and cultural institutions, Lela B. Njatin creates a space that emphasises the role art plays in preserving memory and exploring environmental and social issues, drawing on the heritage of conceptual practices of the 1960s and 1970s.
