Pottery in the Ribnica Valley. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow?

We kindly invite you to the presentation of the publication Pottery in the Ribnica Valley. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow?. Mojca Šifrer Bulovec will present a historical and ethnological overview of pottery in the Ribnica valley, and Tina Zajc Zver will present Ribnica potters or pottery families who still persist in this craft today.

The initiative for the publication was the diploma work of Mojca Šifrer Bulovec, who was the first professional worker in the Ribnica Museum to conduct extensive field research among Ribnica valley potters and explore ways of making pottery, types of pottery, sales and lifestyle of potters.

The presentation of the publication is part of the accompanying program of the exhibition Clay Through Place and Time, which presents the Catalogue of Slovene Clays by potter and industrial designer Urban Magušar and a selection of clay objects from the Middle and New Ages. Urban Magušar is also the author of a contribution in the publication, titled Slovenian clay for the publication - between reality/history and utopia/desires.
