Prešeren Day at the Škofja Loka Museum

On Prešeren Day we are preparing a varied program for a wide variety of visitors at the museum. Admission is free and you can visit us at the following locations:

  • Škofja Loka Museum: 10am–5pm
  • Ivan Grohar Gallery: 10am–5pm
  • France Mihelič Gallery: 10am–5pm

Škofja Loka Loka Museum

Our youngest visitors are kindly invited to the children's corner of the museum, where they can take a stroll through the 40+… Through Time and Beyond… exhibition following a game and discovering the exhibition's peculiarities. They will also be able to hang out in the Museum Living Room and draw or go on a tour of the museum with the Koki backpack, which hides many interesting items and will turn them into true museum detectives (the workbook for the tour is not free of charge, the price is 3.90€).

For adult visitors, we are preparing a presentation of the 80th Anniversary of the Škofja Loka Museum Proceedings, which will take place at museum's collections. You are invited to follow the full presentation or join only a specific one.

11.30 am Barbara Sterle Vurnik: Development of Exhibition and Gallery Activities at the Škofja Loka Museum
12.00 pm Boštjan Soklič: Art History Collection at the Škofja Loka Museum
12.30 pm Biljana Ristić: Development of the Natural History Collection and the Museum of Sport at the Škofja Loka Museum
1.00 pm Mojca Šifrer Bulovec: 80 years of the Department of Ethnology at the Škofja Loka Museum
1.30 pm Jože Štukl: The Škofja Loka Passion Play, Unesco and International Cooperation

The Škopar House in the castle garden will also be open throughout the day.

France Mihelič Gallery

You are welcome to visit the exhibition of works by the Škofja Loka Artists' Association An Emerging Collection and a permanent collection of prints, drawings and paintings by the painter and graphic artist France Mihelič. Public guidance through the latter will take place at 4.00 pm.

Ivan Grohar Gallery

You are invited to visit the exhibition by Tomaž Furlan Breakfast on a Morning Train II.
