Friendship Day is a free children's festival, which delights children in a whirlwind of a varied program with many fairy-tale characters, creative and art workshops, music and dance performances, and various sports activities. It is divided into themed corners, fantasy lands, a fairytale stage and many accompanying events.

At this year's Friendship Day, the Škofja Loka Museum will organise a workshop where we will develop creative and sports skills. We will make balls out of paper, paint and decorate them with colored paper, and try scoring a basket!

Did you know that Škofja Loka is the cradle of Slovenian basketball? And that Ursuline sister Angela Bahovec introduced it here in the 1936/37 school year? Physical education was part of the lessons at the girls' Ursuline school, which had premises at the Škofja Loka Castle in the first half of the 20th century. The Ursulines even built a very advanced recreation hall for that time between the chapel and the Round Tower, where the Castle Gallery is today. The foster girls had various equipment for exercise, they also played tennis and a new game with a ball, which at that time was called with the English word basketball.
