We kindly invite you to the Visoko Mansion to the opening of the exhibition of photographs by Tone Mlakar, Imprints of Time, which we prepared in cooperation with the Municipality of Gorenja vas - Poljane and the Zavod Poljanska dolina as part of Tavčar's year.

With its wealth of natural and cultural heritage, the Poljane Valley and the surrounding hills have always been a source of inspiration for artists and their works of art. The scenes and subjects from the land at the foot of Blegoš that are part of the exhibition on view at the Visoko Mansion were captured by the architect Tone Mlakar (1921–2020) and show many long-lost and long-forgotten places, metaphorically illustrating bygone times. The selected photographs (Tavčar’s Visoko Mansion, Church of St. Wolfgang, Bukov vrh) and other surprising scenes of nature above the village of Gorenja vas and Poljane were created in the second half of the 1960s. As a photographer, Tone Mlakar can be viewed first and foremost as an artist who has recorded vanishing things, as a chronicler of idyll and relicts of the past. In his photographs, he has captured and documented some forgotten phenomena of human creation and action, thus preserving them for posterity. In an interview for the newspaper Dnevnik in 2013, he had the following meaningful thing to say: “Photography is the true imprint of time. Buildings are crumbling, the landscape is changing, as are villages and towns. Yet photography remains.”
