On Wednesday, 21 May 2025, you are invited to join us for the opening of the exhibition “We Were Served a Most Sumptuous Feast.” The Pubs of Škofja Loka in the 19th Century, which will take place in the Round Tower at the Škofja Loka Castle.

The exhibition will present selected themes that will outline the operation of pubs in Škofja Loka back in the day: what types of drinking and dining establishments developed in Škofja Loka and its suburbs in the 19th century, the typical pub grub and drinks, who frequented the pubs and, above all, what role the pubs played in the local inhabitants’ social lives. Another topic will be focused on the role pubs and taverns played in the development of tourism in the late 19th century, the control over their operation due to curfews and individual pub-related offences.
