Coming Full Circle

The exhibition features Agata Pavlovec (Škofja Loka, Slovenia), Žiga Kariž (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Zoran Kuzmanović (Smederevo, Serbia).

All three of them are established artists, both in their respective countries and internationally. They have participated in various major exhibitions, including at the Venice Biennale, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro and the Gallery of the Slovenian Association of Fine Arts Societies. Their works are included in the collections of public museums and galleries, including the Škofja Loka Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana and the Historical Museum of Serbia in Belgrade.

The three artists participated in the Youth Ivan Grohar Art Colony as primary school pupils, which contributed significantly to their decision to pursue a professional artistic career. It was decided to showcase the works of only three of the many participating artists – all three of them are representatives of the generation that was formed at the art colony in the 1980s.

All three of them have been active for decades and each of them is presented through several works/cycles. This gives the visitors a deeper insight into the artists’ extensive oeuvres and allows them to discover what they have in common and how they are different. Agata and Zoran usually draw on atropomorphic themes, Žiga on media images, and all of them often work in cycles.

The exhibition The Youth Ivan Grohar Art Colony Through Time at the Round Tower also features a video recording of the artists discussing the importance of cultural and artistic education through their personal formative experiences.
