This year, the Škofja Loka Museum will once again participate in the medieval event Historial, which showcases the material and cultural heritage of Škofja Loka and presents the traditions of various guilds. These guilds still inspire different activities in local and artistic crafts today.

Together with history curator Biljana Ristić, you will explore the life and atmosphere of the castle garden during the time when the Ursuline sisters lived and worked there, guided by a rich collection of historical photographs.

Did you know that the Church of the Annunciation in Crngrob is one of the oldest pilgrimage churches in Slovenia and one of the three European churches where whale ribs are kept?

We invite you to a guided tour of the archaeological exhibition The Bukovščica Case Study and a presentation of archaeological methods used in the analysis of ceramic finds.

The exhibition will focus on the best-known fresco, Sunday Christ, which dates back to the mid-15h century and is located on the church’s west-facing façade. In its original setting at the gallery in the Church of the Annunciation in Crngrob, individual fresco scenes will be explored through an ethnographic, art-historical, and historical lens.

The Museum Summer Night is the largest national promotional campaign by the museums and galleries of Slovenia, joined by a number of other institutions and organizations that carry out programmes in the field of cultural heritage, art, culture and history. On Saturday, 20 June, our locations will be open from 6.00 to 9.00 pm, and during this time admission will be free.

Every last Saturday of the month, you take a guided tour of our permanent collections and get to know the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Škofja Loka area, and afterwards have a cup of coffee (with a coupon) at the Škofja Loka Castle Cafe while enjoying an excellent view of the medieval town.
