Giulio Quaglio’s Baroque Scene from Puštal
Creation, Subject and Interpretation of the Fresco The Descent from the Cross
The exhibition presents the fresco’s artistic significance, historical background and iconography, as well as its place in early 18th-century sacred art. The “Deeper Insight” section provides more in-depth information about the fresco and its cultural, artistic, commission-related and social context during the Baroque period.

A Manual by Tomaž Furlan – A Workshop Focused on Creating a New Work of Art
The second edition of the Art Process Dissection will explore Tomaž Furlan’s artistic process. The participants will get to know it through the practical workshop A Manual by Tomaž Furlan, conceived as a collective continuation of the artist’s work.
Windows of Imagination is a shared initiative that brings together organisations and individuals from Škofja Loka’s creative and cultural scene every December – this year for the eleventh time.
At the Ivan Grohar Gallery, you'll be able to buy products and souvenirs from the Museum Shop, inspired by the collections and exhibitions of the Škofja Loka Museum, as well as artworks made by local artists.
Visit us on 3 December between 10:00 and 20:00, and on the remaining days during the gallery’s regular opening hours – Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00, and on Wednesdays until 17:00.

A Guided Tour of the Škofja Loka Museum and Coffee at the Škofja Loka Castle Cafe

Every last Saturday of the month, you take a guided tour of our permanent collections and get to know the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Škofja Loka area, and afterwards have a cup of coffee (with a coupon) at the Škofja Loka Castle Cafe while enjoying an excellent view of the medieval town.

For the Democratisation of Art – Revisited
Radical Artistic Practices in Yugoslavia (1960–1990)
The exhibition, whose curation was based on the collection of Darko Šimičić, will focus on the works of artists from the former Yugoslavia between 1960 and 1990. The exhibition, whose curation was based on the collection of Darko Šimičić, will focus on the works of artists from the former Yugoslavia between 1960 and 1990. It will be on view in several rooms of Škofja Loka Museum – at the Castle Gallery, the castle chapel and the entrance hall. The concept of the exhibition is not chronological, it opens up the possibility of dialogue between the works, ideas and artistic practices. The exhibited works will be presented in five (intertwined) sections: Noart · Life, Not Slogans · Individual – Group · Paysage · Painted Word.

The Škofja Loka Passion Play – A Living Custom on the Streets of Škofja Loka
You are invited to a lecture on the Škofja Loka Passion Play and its (pre-)tradition, which will be presented by Dr. Matija Ogrin and Dr. Monika Deželak Trojar, researchers at the Institute of Slovenian Literature and Literary Studies at ZRC SAZU.
Join us for an engaging museum workshop! We'll start with a short tour of the archaeological collection, which will transport us thousands of years back in time. We will discuss the lives and customs of people during the prehistoric period and examine numerous interesting finds that will inspire us to create our own prehistoric necklace.
