The urban beat of Škofja Loka has been vibrant in the past. The rhythm was dictated by trade links, regular weekly fairs, celebrations and a rich guild life. In the centuries of development, various societies have joined the list, bringing together in their ranks people with similar cultural or sporting interests. Societies were increasingly becoming the connective tissue of life in and around the city, which attracted not only locals but also residents of the surrounding areas. Especially in
