Join us for a storytelling evening! Four women of different generations bring more than four different women’s stories and fairy tales. They gave their heroines a voice to step out of the shadows and talk about women’s destinies.
As part of this year's European Cultural Heritage Days, marked by the theme Bon Apetit!, and the Naša kuhna project our archeology curator Jože Štukl is preparing a lecture on the beginnings of brewing and winemaking in the Škofja Loka Seigniory.
The national costume is originally a peasant holiday dress, which began to develop as a costume for special occasions in the middle of the 19th century among nationally conscious merchants and townspeople, and in the 1970s as a special form of manifesting Sloveneness became established among the peasant population.

The Ivan Grohar Gallery will host a talk with Simon Mlakar, a versatile artist and member of the Škofja Loka Artists' Association, whose latest spatial installation This is Our Universe is currently on view at the at the gallery. The talk will be led by the exhibition curator Boštjan Soklič.
As part of the accompanying program of the Photo Loka exhibition, we invite you to a camera obscura workshop, led by photographer Janez Pelko. The short introductory lecture will be followed by the practical part of making a camera, taking photos, developing photos in the darkroom and reviewing the final products.
Art historian Nina Misson will present the versatile photographer, lecturer and pedagogue Vlastja Simončič at Šubič House. She will focus in particular on the experimental side of his photography and his role as an educator and founder of the so-called Slovenian method of teaching photography without the use of a camera.
We will first look at the early works of Ivan Grohar, which are kept in the museum, as well as reproductions of his most famous works of art and works by his contemporaries, and thus get to know the wider period of Impressionism in Slovenia. Then we will go to the castle garden and create our own impessionist works of art!
You are invited to a guided tour of our beekeeping collection, where we will present the history of beekeeping and cultural heritage in connection with bees. You will get to know the bee family and beehives, their products and the role that honey bees play in pollinating plants. We will also take a walk along the educational trail.
