Windows of Imagination is a shared initiative that brings together organisations and individuals from Škofja Loka’s creative and cultural scene every December – this year for the eleventh time.

At the Ivan Grohar Gallery, you'll be able to buy products and souvenirs from the Museum Shop, inspired by the collections and exhibitions of the Škofja Loka Museum, as well as artworks made by local artists.

Visit us on 3 December between 10:00 and 20:00, and on the remaining days during the gallery’s regular opening hours – Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00, and on Wednesdays until 17:00.

Join us for a Castle Matinee! Every last Saturday of the month, you take a guided tour of our permanent collections and get to know the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Škofja Loka area, and afterwards have a cup of coffee (with a coupon) at the Škofja Loka Castle Cafe while enjoying an excellent view of the medieval town.

The exhibition, whose curation was based on the collection of Darko Šimičić, will focus on the works of artists from the former Yugoslavia between 1960 and 1990. It will be on view in several rooms of Škofja Loka Museum – at the Castle Gallery, the castle chapel and the entrance hall. The concept of the exhibition is not chronological, it opens up the possibility of dialogue between the works, ideas and artistic practices. The exhibited works will be presented in five (intertwined) sections: Noart · Life, Not Slogans · Individual – Group · Paysage · Painted Word.

You are invited to a lecture by Dr. Jaša Drnovšek, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Cultural History at ZRC SAZU, about Christian processions in Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries.

You are invited to a lecture on the Škofja Loka Passion Play and its (pre-)tradition, which will be presented by Dr. Matija Ogrin and Dr. Monika Deželak Trojar, researchers at the Institute of Slovenian Literature and Literary Studies at ZRC SAZU.

Join us for an engaging museum workshop! We'll start with a short tour of the archaeological collection, which will transport us thousands of years back in time. We will discuss the lives and customs of people during the prehistoric period and examine numerous interesting finds that will inspire us to create our own prehistoric necklace.

Storyteller Alja Bulič will part the veil of witchcraft secrets and rituals through stories spanning different eras and cultures.

At the lecture, Senior Curator of History, Biljana Ristić, will present the military hospitals, with an emphasis on those that operated in Škofja Loka Castle between 1915 and 1918, the establishment of the military cemetery in the town cemetery, and the issue of its maintenance between the two wars.

On the occasion of the school's anniversary, we invite you to the opening of an exhibition of students' artwork on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The works, created under the mentorship of Vida Kejžar over the past decade, will be presented.
